Success Beats Holiday Stress!

Posted: December 4th, 2009 | Author: Leseo |

One of the areas most in need of creative paradigms during busy holiday periods is:
(drum roll):  Stress Management, of course.

And one of the simplest solutions is learning, or re-learning, the habits of regular relaxation.

  • Easy on the budget, on the heart, on your total health.
  • Good for your productivity, your creativity, and hey, your relationships.

Relaxation is a resilience builder,  socially sanctioned or not!

Here’s a 5-minute video of David Riklan, from Selfgrowth.com, reminding us all how simple, and simply effective, changing our daily stress levels can be.

Be wise — practice good stress management, and see how it can increase your productivity and success.  That’s not really even counter-intuitive, if you think about it.  Quality trumps quantity in this genre.  Let the good relaxing times roll, in work and play, and in relaxing sounds, scents, flavors, sights, and seat cushions!

(A variety of self-improvement ideas can be found on David’s video blog page.
Check it out here.  (Not an affiliate link.) You can beat much of the holiday stress by intentionally becoming more relaxed and healthy. Enjoy your practice!

These are all good ideas for reducing holiday stress. My favorite is the one David calls “sharing.” Taking a few moments to pause and relax with another person adds accountability, and that helps things happen.

If you’re interested, you can read an article on making resilience-building connections at http://educanopy.com/blog/194/making-connections-and-resilience/. Choosing to share time with these folks can lower your holiday stress, and add more benefits than we can count. Resilience and success to all!

Hey Dr Laraine, thanks for your helpful comments. I will check out your article on making connections. Also, thank you for adding us to your post on Resilience Resources 101 — Holiday Edition. I watched some of the videos you list in your post and my favorite is the Reiki one. But the one I bookmarked for practicing everyday when I first sit down to my desk to work is the Breathing Relaxation Exercise. It’s quick and effective and will set the work flow into motion.
